JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:                Laboratory Technician

Reporting To:         Lab Manager

Hours:                     Full Time

FLSA Status:          Non-Exempt

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Technician provides all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively, while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

·       Performing laboratory testing and routine task accurately and following strict methodology in order to produce reliable and precise data

·       Prepare chemical and reagent solutions

·       Effectively and safely operate and maintaining standard lab equipments

·       Record and maintain chemical and waste inventory

·       Ensuring lab supplies and consumables are well-stocked

·       Recording and data entry of results

·       Able to work shift and on-call duties

·       Following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks

 

WORK SKILLS:

·       Perform minor repairs and troubleshooting of a variety of lab equipment

·       Good time management and multi tasking skills in order to work on several test samples at the same time

·       Excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all part of the organisation

·       Knowledge of chemical safety and HSE awareness

·       Team work skills

·       Good record keeping skills required, along with basic maths and computing

 

EXPERIENCE:

·         Relevant laboratory experience is preferred

·         Any previous experience, even if it is not science-related, will be advantageous if it demonstrates that you have some of the above skills

·         Fresh graduates are welcome

 

EDUCATION:

·         Diploma in Chemical Process Technology

·         Higher Nitec in Chemical Technology

·         Any diploma in a science related disciplines

Shift Laboratory Analyst (1-year Contract) in GlaxoSmithKline (Pharmaceutical Company)

GlaxoSmithKline are offering job positions for Shift Laboratory Analyst (contract), especially for Singapore Polytechnic fresh graduates.

 

Purpose

·         To assist the Analytical Chemist / Microbiologist to ensure that all utilities (water, environmental and compressed gas), process raw materials, factory samples, intermediates and final products are properly analysed and the results recorded in full compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) and regulatory requirements that meets the defined quality standards. In addition, provide analytical support for non-order fulfilment activities required for the resolution of process and method problems / issues, and the introduction of new measurement technologies and analytical tests.

·         To lead, schedule and test Value Stream specific raw materials, process intermediates, final product, non-routine samples and ENVOPS in accordance to written procedures and methods.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Ensure that all raw materials / factory samples / intermediates / final products / utilities microbiological monitoring / non-order fulfillment and NCE fulfillment activities are analysed and tested according to the stipulated quality requirements so as to provide accurate test results for correct usage decisions.

·         Ensure that all instruments are in good working order, reagents and reference standards within expiry and that documents meet regulatory standards.

·         Operate the relevant computer applications that are related to the laboratory functions, such as MERPS2, LIMS, Empower and other network operating systems, as required to ensure completion of MERPS transactions.

·         Use the appropriate documentation system for the activities being carried out.

·         Ensure training records keep up to date.

·         Maintain an excellent standard of housekeeping in the laboratory.

·         Ensure a safe working environment in the laboratory and perform 6S inspection.

 

Basic Qualifications:      

·         NITEC or Diploma in Chemical Process Technology, Chemistry or equivalent

·         Knowledge of analytical techniques, Laboratory instrumentation, equipment capabilities and microbiological testing

·         Understanding of product specification and method of analysis

 

Preferred Qualifications:            

·         2- 3 years of relevant experience in an analytical environment is preferred (Not necessary)

·         Knowledge of investigation procedure

·         Good communication and internal customer management skills
