LABORATORY ANALYST

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·       Carry out accurate and timely tests and reporting as required by the customers

·       Familiarization with all Test Methods & Laboratory Procedures

·     Support and maintain the laboratory operations. Coordinate activities of the section to meet the turn around time and maintain the laboratory process flow.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·         Upkeep cleanliness of work areas, apparatus and equipments before, during and after handing over from fellow Team Leaders

·         Perform standard quality checks and basic calibration of equipment

·         To record and endorse test results on Worksheets when tests are completed

·         Ensure that tests are completed accurately without compromising integrity and standards

·         Carry out tests in accordance to the standard methods as given in the worksheet

·         Standardize reagent/equipment, prepare titration solvent and test solutions when necessary

·         Upkeep cleanliness of work areas, apparatus and equipment

·         Assist in the practical training of new technicians when assigned

·         Maintain good housekeeping by cleaning up after each test

·         To review, question and repeat results if suspicious results are encountered

·         To be updated and develop competency on new scope of tests and instruments

·         Perform any tasks as assigned by management

PROFILE

 

·         NITEC in Chemistry or related discipline

·         One year relevant working experience in a Chemical laboratory

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

·         Positive working attitude

·         Team player and hardworking

·         Must be able to work independently


 

·       Basic maths and chemistry skills

·      Familiar with handling practice of chemicals/solution/reagents

·      Fluent English and local language

·      Applies judgment and acts according to the SGS standards of ethics and integrity

·      Must be able to work overtime when required

·       Competency levels:

·         Viscosity, Flashpoint, Water Content, TAN/TBN, Blotter Test

·         Particle Count, FTIR, PQ Index, Advance Flashpoint, pH, Density, ICP

·         Direct Photometer, Analytical Ferrography, RPVOT, Ruler, Air Release, Rust Prevention Characteristics
