3M Drug Delivery Overview
3M does not develop its own drug molecules. 3M partners with other pharmaceutical companies to put their drug into and inhalation product. 3m helps companies to resolve formulation challenges, differentiate pMDI products with optimized components, guide you through regulatory approval and meet worldwide production and supply needs
Because it is target specific, inhalation drug delivery has fundamental advantages for therapy of diseases of the respiratory tract, including asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Drugs administered by inhalation minimize systemic absorption and adverse effects compared with drugs that must travel through the gastrointestinal tract.
Partners can come to 3M at any point in the development process. They can hand over the molecule and let 3M run with the process from the very beginning to make the formulation, choose the canister, Inhalation system and do the Manufacturing. Or partners can ask 3M to do only do portion of those steps.
3M offers these main services to its Partners:
- · Inhalation systems- Metered Dose Inhaler options
· Inhalation Canister Components
· Formulation Technologies- 3m can optimize the drug formulation for optimal absorption.
· Inhalation Manufacturing
